What brings you joy?

If we are going to talk about the joy in the journey of life I think we should start today! I am not a morning person, at all, and as I sit and write this my eyes are still puffy from sleep and my head is trying to clear out the fog that set in over night. Time for a little injection of joy to get the day off on the right foot...what do you say?

I'll start a list today -- we'll continue it later, of course. Let's make it an I'll show you mine if you show me yours kinda deal, okay?

  • Watching someone praise God - from singing to hands raised to faces turned skyward to that glow that comes when you share God's presence in your life.
  • Isabel's hugs - she'll stop in the middle of playing or doing some very important three-year-old thing and come over for a kiss and hug..."I love you mommy"
  • Paxton's belly laughs - I would tickle him 24/7, if he'd let me, just to hear him laugh
  • Puppy breath! The best smell in the world, I think, and I love the licking, nibbling, playing you have to endure to get there
  • William's company
  • When God speaks straight to your heart -- when you know in whatever you are hearing or seeing He is speaking to you!
  • The smell of a spring rain
  • Hummingbirds
  • Sand between my toes
  • Talking to my grandpa on the phone (even better in person and we get to do that in just a few
  • short weeks)
  • Long conversations with close girlfriends
  • Experiencing my kids' "ah-ha" moments with them - like when Isabel discovered this week that Wal-Mart has numbers on its signs and she knew them

    That'll get us started, huh?
Now share with me...what brings you joy?

Great list. I'll have to steal some of yours.

1. ah-ha moments when it clicks
2. reading God's word as I've been obsessed in a good way...craving it.
3. laughing until it hurts, can't breath, and crying begins
4. singing that praise song in church that just hits the spot
5. feeling of release after a good unexpected cry (that's been lately a lot)
6. hugging little ones
7. receiving confirmation and encouragement from others about my writing, teaching, and leading gifts.
8.when I know I've heard God's voice of confirmation
9. deep, deep love and passion for writing...it's truly a time of communing with God.

Hey, precious friend!
So glad that you're back! Loved your list! Here are a few of mine:
--snuggling with my children
--snuggling with my Hubby
--seeing God's work in nature and in the hearts of others
--hearing His whispers to my heart
--good praise music that brings me to tears
--watching children at play and seeing them show kindness
--enjoying a tough trail run with friends and then popping the can of an icy cold Mt. Dew
--completing a tough race knowing that I have given it my all and have shared God with someone while running
--fun times with my girlfriends
--laughing so hard you cry
--the smell of a clean house!!!

Ok, I could keep going, but I have a prayer vigil app!! Love you! Susan
